Cyberattacks have plagued Las Vegas casinos

Posted

MGM Resorts International is grappling with disruptions after a cyberattack paralyzed its key Las Vegas properties, including the Bellagio and MGM Grand. Operations like check-ins and gambling machines were heavily affected. Similarly, Caesars Entertainment was also attacked, revealing the breach's impact on its IT network due to a social engineering attack on an external IT vendor.

Notably, the ransomware group "ALPHV", known as Black Cat, is suspected behind the MGM attack. Although MGM has not provided specifics about the breach, the FBI and Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency are actively investigating.

Meanwhile, Caesars announced that attackers copied their loyalty program database, compromising sensitive member information.
