INDIANAPOLIS — Warmer than average temperatures are in the forecast for the next week. It’s been dry across Indiana for nearly 2 weeks, but several chances of rain are headed our way over the next 7 days.

THURSDAY NIGHT:
Some spotty evening rain is possible with a southward moving cold front, especially north of I-70. Most areas should remain dry across Central & Southern Indiana. Look for clearing skies overnight with cooler lows ranging from the middle 40s north of Indianapolis to the lower 50s to the south.

FRIDAY:
A mix of sun & clouds. Northeasterly breezes will bring in cooler air so highs may only be in the upper 60s to lower 70s. Look for 60s during the evening for week #2 of the high school football playoffs.

FRIDAY NIGHT:
Scattered clouds. Lows from the middle 40s to lower 50s.
HALLOWEEN:
Mostly cloudy with highs in the 60s to around 70. Temperatures should remain in the 60s for trick-or-treating in the evening. Some rain could occur during the first half of the day, especially north of Indianapolis and across Northern Indiana. Many of us should have a pretty quiet day; however, we can’t totally rule out a stray shower or sprinkle later in the day or evening. Lows will be in the 50s Saturday night.

SUNDAY:
Clocks go back 1 hour at 2 a.m. with the return of standard time. The chance of rain remains in the forecast, but the extent of coverage still is a little bit uncertain. Highs have trended more towards the 60s. Lows in the 50s can be expected Sunday night.
NEXT WEEK:
A slow moving, cut-off low is still expected to meander across the Lower 48. These systems are notorious for going slower than advertised. The latest model runs, as of October 29th, are keeping most of the rain to the west of our area until after Election Day. Assuming that holds true, Election Day on Tuesday may end up unseasonably mild again with highs in the 70s. Higher rain chances exist now for Wednesday & Thursday.
