INDIANAPOLIS — Fans enjoyed a Red Out Party as they decked themselves in the color for the Indiana Fever in a 99-89 victory against the Las Vegas Aces in Game 2 of the first round of the WNBA playoffs at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
Zoey Roling, 9, watched her first Fever game. She said it was “very exciting” as she showed off her face paint: a Fever logo on her left cheek.
Fans of all ages gathered for the party before the game at the Morris Bicentennial Plaza next to the arena. Some danced while others tested their skills on the plaza’s basketball court. Roling and others got their faces painted.
Nicole Carlson traveled from North Dakota to see the win. “I’ve been following the Fever for a few years. I’m a big Caitlin Clark fan and a team fan, and I’ve just been wanting to come to a game, and there’s no better time than a playoff game.”
The electric crowd lined up to enter the must-win game. Inside the arena, fans wore shirts that said, “We don’t do quiet…”
The Fever now face a winner-takes-all Game 3 at 9 p.m. Thursday in Las Vegas.
Fans say the Fever, including point guard Caitlin Clark and guard Kelsey Mitchell, have a chance to win the championship.
“I love Caitlin. I love them all,” said Laura Bates, a Super Fever fan.
Bates has watched every home game. “Yes, they got a chance if they come out persistent. All of them need to start doing what they need to do.”
Christina Cockrell said, “Listen. We’re as loud as we can. Kelsey Mitchell all day.”
